By outsourcing the buffer warehouse to Schenker Tetra Pak acquires the following benefits:

• Enlarging their own warehouse capacity
• Switching the deliveries of paper reels more from trucks to rail, as it is more economical and environmentally friendly

Environmental aspect is an important issue for Schenker and Tetra Pak as both companies are actively participating in the program of exhaust emissions reduction. Relocation of this substantial amount of deliveries from truck to rail has a positive impact on Greenhouse gases reduction.

Incoming by rail paper reels are handled in Schenker Kiev terminal, in Vishneve. They are unloaded directly from the wagons to the warehouse, where they are stored in 5 layers piles.

Tetra Pak is running integrated SAP R/3 system to handle the stock and Schenker warehouse is connected to this system. All incoming and outcoming reels are scanned, registered and processed by SAP R/3.

Production line in Tetra Pak factory is supplied “just-on-time” on daily basis with the paper reels from Schenker warehouse.
